More about 1922 Silver Dollar

Silver dollars are considered to be of high value in terms of purchasing, mainly because they are no longer in monetary circulation. However, there are some silver coins which prove to be of higher selling power than others, and one of them is the 1922 silver dollar. Also known as the Peace Dollar, this silver coin was minted in 1922 as a symbol to change the American nation after the end of World War 1. The first sets of 1922 Sillver Dollar were minted to be of high relief, thus these became hard to stack. Not long after, the US Mint changed the protrusion design of the coins to a lower relief, and these were the ones which became in wider circulation during the said year. The coins, while they became popular in the year they were produced, were still considered to be rare, as they were not minted as often as the other coins in the previous and succeeding years. After 1922, the production of the Peace Dollar was discontinued and not long after the coins became harder and harder to find. They became good subjects for coin collectors, especially the earlier produced coins. The coins of lower relief tend to sell for as low as $20 per piece when they are in good condition, while those of higher relief tend to be more expensive. The coins with higher relief were also subject to fading and distortion, thus acquiring them at good condition would definitely add to the extra cost.
