More about Morgan Silver Dollar

The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most precious US coins today. Although it was not popular during its time, owning one can earn you millions of dollars thanks to its present rarity and high numismatic value. A lot of coin collectors are hoping to have this coin as part of their items, as this would not only make them rich but as well as recognized in their chosen field. The Morgan silver dollar was in circulation in between 1878 to 1903. It was designed by coin engraver George T. Morgan, and it was produced in two distinct locations: the Comstock mines in Carson City, Nevada, and in Philadelphia. The coins had 90% silver content and 10% copper, but they were never given too much attention by the general public even after their production was halted in 1903. In 1922, silver dollar coins were once again minted as Peace Coins, but they were not of legal tender. During the latter part of the 20th century, the Morgan silver dollar became highly popular as the prices of silver rose in the market. While most of the Philadelphia coins were melted for their silver content, the Carson City coins meanwhile became hot for collectors, as they were already scarce in the first place thanks to the hoarding of LaVere Redfield, who died in 1974. When his hidden Morgan silver dollar coins were discovered after his death, they were placed into auction and are now dispersed in the collecting community. Hence, the Morgan silver dollar proves to be more than its estimated value, and no wonder coin enthusiasts from all over the globe are dying to get hold of its pieces to complete their respective collections.
